ABOUT CHIPLUN
Chiplun is situated on the banks of River Vashishti in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. The word Chiplun means ‘the abode of Lord Parshuram.’ The fast -developing city is bounded by Western Ghats to the east and Guhagar to the west. The region experiences a tropical climate. The city lies 320 Km south of Mumbai and is a hub of culture.
Due to its location near the Western Ghats, the region shelters unique flora and fauna like butterflies, moths, birds and crocodiles. Birds found here include barbets, eagles, orioles, hornbills, minivets, kingfishers, tree pies, robins, sun birds and drongos.
The Koyna Hydroelectric Projects 3 and 4 are situated in Chiplun. The waterfall known as Savatsada, attracts tourists in months of June and July. The region is also famous for its hotels and is a well-renowned tourist place.
