ABOUT DANDELI GANESHGUDI
Located in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, Dandeli-Ganeshgudi is endowed with a scenic landscape and is renowned for adventure sports and tourism. Nestled in the Western Ghats on the banks of Kali River, Ganeshgudi is notable for its breath-taking scenery and panoramic views of Nature. Located 25 Km from Ganeshgudi is the town of Dadeli which is known for water rafting, night camps, nature walks, boating, bird watching, tiger and crocodile spotting and angling, along with picnics, eco-tourism, and trips to nearby caves and temples. A major tourist attraction is Dandeli Widlife Sanctuary which has unique flora and fauna such as black panthers, Sambhar deer, bison and Malabar giant squirrels. Ganeshgudi is also a bird watcher’s paradise. A popular birding spot is Old Magazine House. Birds can also be found at Supa Dam, on the banks of Kali River and nearby lakes. One of the must watch phenomena here is Hornbill Crossing– a routine of these birds crossing across the Kali river every evening. Other birds found here include flycatchers, shamas, Indian pittas, cuckoos, doves, drongos, thrushes and fulvettas.

Birds – Ceylon Frogmouth, Great Hornbill, Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Indian Grey Black Eagle, Night Jar , Grey Tit , White cheeked Barbet , Lesser Yellownape , Coppersmith Barbet.
Reptiles – King Cobra, Python, Krait, Rat snake, cobra ,vine snake and Vipers.
