LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK;

Located at a two hour drive from Nairobi lies Nakuru National Park, one of the major tourist attractions of Kenya. The park surrounds Lake Nakuru which is one of the rift valley soda lakes.Gazetted as a national park in 1968, it has a variety of landscapes ranging from lake to woody and bushy grasslands.
The park flora consists of yellow backed acacia on the fringes of the lake while croton bushes and olives dot the wetter hillside.Initially established for birds, the re-introduction program has ensured survival of rare mammal species in the park.The park supports over 50 species of mammals like white rhinos, African buffalos, Rothschild giraffes, zebras, impalas, Olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, lions, leopards, Black rhinos, wild dogs, Colobus monkeys and cheetahs. The park has the highest concentration of black rhinos in the country. Flamingos are the major tourist attraction here.
